"I do not know when the water started filling up. I had heard the villagers talk about the rising water level in the Khado Khola. But what would I know of floods, when they come and when they go. First, it filled my neighbours' house and entered my lawn. The next day, the resting bed in the lawn and the water pump were under water. When the water started coming into the kitchen, that is when I started getting worried. It is a mother’s worry though. Father’s worries are mostly about politics. So for almost 2 weeks we walked on water and ate easy food. I tried to carry my sons on my back but I only can carry so much. But now, the water has gone and my husband is shouting at people in the village who he thinks are responsible for the flood that drowns us every year. I tell him it is not the people but the river. But he says I do not understand. He says the ever returning flood is because of some people in the villages and not because of the river. So I just keep quiet, I let him yell."
