"Six months ago, when my husband left for Kashmir to find work, he gave me 5000 rupees in secret. He slipped the money in my hand and it went unnoticed by the members of the family. He whispered to me - "Take care of our baby." The money did not make me happy after all I was not going to see my husband for many months to come. Before he left he also made sure I could press the numbers on the mobile phone he left for me. For a while, I struggled but I practiced after I finished the chores of the house and after I put the baby to sleep. Now I can dial numbers without difficulty. Sometimes, I find myself lonely and I call him more than I should. There are times when I get calls from him more than normal. He too must be missing me and the baby. We have just been married for just over a year, you see. The wait is too long, the distance too far and the network too bad."
