“I married a Nepali man from across the river. He came to my village in China to sell cattle. He would sit in front of my house and stare at me. And I would think – “Who is this man? Does he have no work?” And then one day another man from Nepal came and asked me if I could help him carry some goods across the river and I did. When we crossed the river, I saw the same man who would stare at me. Then the person who asked me to help him said, “I have spoken to your father, now you two will be married.” And then we were married and a few weeks later I went home and brought all my belongings to Nepal. Today, I look across the river and I see that so much has changed in China. It is a city. Here the change is very slow.
