"My position at the post office is called the Halkara. I am responsible for delivering letters to villagers in the different wards of the district. I have been doing this for the last three years but I would not say it is an easy job as the roads are bad and some of the villages I have to go are not accessible by road. If there is a phone number mentioned on the envelope, we call some of the villagers to see if they are headed this way so that they can collect the letters themselves. But that is not the case always. So sometimes I walk in the sun and sometime in the rain. The villagers are not happy receiving reminder letters from the banks for their loans but delivering letters from men and women working abroad to their parents is something else. Sometimes I just wait there to see these elderly folks read the letter. They have so much hope in them. And sometimes they thank me and invite me for tea and snacks." (Renuka Giri, Panauti 6, Kavre)
