“When I was 8 years old, one morning, I could not get out of bed. There was a very deep pain in my leg. From that day, my body started to feel weak. I could feel it lose strength. I could only walk very slowly and I would be sick many times a month. Every time I got sick, father would hire a porter to carry me to the health post in the district headquarters. When I did not recover after multiple visits to the health post, my parents took me to India. I spent six months there visiting hospitals. They spent a lot of money for my treatment. After I came back, the weakness in my body was still there. I never got cured. But because I was sick and I could not do the housework I was sent to school with my two brothers. I passed my SLC exams. If I had been strong enough, I would have been sent off to the fields. Or I would probably be married with kids. Today I work at the Animal Clinic at the village.
