(2/2) “Luckily, I found a relative who let me stay in his house. I was to help him with his chores and, in return, I could attend school. It felt good to return to my motherland. After I completed my SLC, I was selected by an international organisation to study in Kathmandu. I completed my bachelor’s degree. After completion, I returned to the village and started teaching in the local school. I taught in the same school for 14 years. Now, I have grown old. Recently, a young student came up to me and said, 'Sir, I am leaving Nepal, there is no money here, there is no job here, what will I do with this degree? I have a family to support.' I thought about how similar circumstances had led my father to India. But I also remembered how love for my country had made me walk back. Before we bid farewell, I told him, 'I wish you all the luck, you have my blessings but I hope you return. I hope your sons and daughters return to your motherland.'"
