"I walked without shoes all my childhood. Father wore a shoe that was shredded on all sides and because I wanted to feel the shoes in my feet, I wore it when father was not. But I had to come to school barefoot and my skin was calloused and dead. Also, one thing I will not forget. I was to join school but the day before the landslide had taken away the school and with it also three of my friends. It was 35 years ago. But that did not deter me and because no benches were spared, father would give me a home sewn mat to take to school. It was quite new and a thing of pride. I remember, everyone wanted to sit on it. That is how my childhood was. I passed my SLC from this school and eventually, I have become a teacher here. During recess, I see all the children running amok and once in a while I see myself and think of my childhood"#elevateddreamin collaboration with Trek To Teach.
