(Part 2/2) "He was only 26 years old when he died. We were the same age. We were from the same village. Ours was a love marriage. We grew up together playing in the same river. I saw him, he saw him and we fell in love. Both our families agreed on our relationship. He came to ask for my hand in marriage. It was the happiest day of my life. To be married to a man I loved was a blessing from god. My husband was a good-hearted man too. He was always polite with people. He never took a step back from helping those in need. To lose him was the saddest day of my life. To think that my son will have to grow up without a father pains my heart. But I cannot change my past. What has happened has happened and I will have to live with that.
My son is 4 years old now and he is very attached to me. He tails me everywhere I go. After that incident, I did not want to stay in my village. So I came to Surkhet. I am happy that my son got selected to go to Kopila Valley School. For a single woman like me, it feels like a burden has been taken off my head. His father would also have wanted him to go to a good school. I am also consoling my heart watching my son come back home with new things he has learned in school and dictate it to me. My husband must be watching too."
