“I would scream and shout but no one came. Days went by, I never stopped fighting, screaming and shouting. I would not eat for days, what they offered. The rule for all the girls there, was to put on make up and go sit on the balcony and invite men. I would decline and they would torture me for that. Sometimes it was 25 men a day. This went on for over a year. They sold me to another brothel where I met many other girls from Nepal, many children. Some would say, ‘Our life is over now. We also fought like you many years ago but no one came for rescue. We are destined to live in hell.’ But I never stopped fighting. I had become really weak and started to bleed. They took me to a doctor who saved my life. But I was taken back to the brothel again. By this time, I had also started losing faith because I saw no hope. There was no more fight left in me. Days would end with wet pillows and memories of home.”
