My recent journey took me to some villages in the Kaski District of the Annapurna region where I met teachers, students, and parents. I listened to their stories about village life and the what education is like in this region. Although conditions present seemingly endless challenges, and progress seems to be at a standstill, everyone here is hopeful for a better future. Hope resides in these classrooms despite the social ills that impede education. Hope is reflected in the school communities even though politics limit education reform. Hope is seen through the relationships between neighbors that are still confronted with caste-based struggles. So although ‘Elevated Dreams’ will present the difficulties of rural Himalayan life, it is important to see how hope plays its part too. The next 15-20 stories to follow are in partnership with Trek To Teach#elevateddreams
